FLORIDA: The Pakistan team has been ruled out of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 after the United States of America (USA) game against Ireland was cancelled due to rain in Lauderhill, Florida.
The two teams shared a point each which sealed the fate of the Babar Azam-led side in the marquee event on Friday.
As a result of the washout, the USA qualified for the Super 8s of the tournament for the first time.
Meanwhile, for the first time in the history of the short format, Pakistan crashed out of the T20 World Cup in the group stage.
The Men in Green opened their campaign with a shock defeat to the USA in New York on 5 June.
They later faced India on 9 June and lost by six runs, making it two for two in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.
Chasing a target of 120, Pakistan’s batting order collapsed in the middle and they lost by six runs.
While Babar Azam’s men beat Canada in their third game, they were counting on Ireland to beat the USA, who are second in Group A with two victories in their last three games.
Pakistan will play their last match in the group stage against Ireland on June 16.
