KARACHI: As the general elections approach, the Sindh Home Department has enforced Section 144 throughout the state, essentially outlawing the display of firearms for 45 days.
The Sindh Inspector General of Police recommended that the prohibition on the display of arms be implemented, according to a notification released on Tuesday in this respect.

Police and law enforcement personnel are not subject to this prohibition.
Armed guards working for licensed private security firms in Sindh are only permitted to carry weapons on their assignments.

Station house officers have been instructed to file formal complaints (FIRs) against any anyone found to be in violation of the restriction on the display of arms, in accordance with the notification.
