LAHORE: The Punjab Health Department initiated the process for the recruitment of 900 medical officers in the wake of doctors’ strikes and resignations.
According to Khawaja Imran Nazir, the Punjab Minister of Primary and Secondary Healthcare, the government plans to regularly appoint doctors in grade 17, who will be stationed in DHQ, THQ, and rural health clinics.
The hiring process for 378 female medical officers was recently concluded.
According to Khawaja Imran Nazir, Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is giving the order for the recruiting campaign to be conducted.
He stated that the department’s goal with the recruitment effort is to have all open physician posts at hospitals filled.
It is important to note that last week, patients at three government-run hospitals suffered as a result of a young doctor’s walkout against the main medical officer’s removal in Sahiwal.
In response to the call from the Punjab Young Doctors Association, young physicians went on strike and demanded that the cases brought against them be dropped.
The Punjab chief minister, Maryam Nawaz, was visiting Sahiwal Hospital when doctors were arrested and dismissed. For this reason, they also demanded an apology from the Punjab Secretary of Health or the Punjab Chief Minister.
Reports state that during her visit to the hospital, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif verbally ordered the dismissal of four senior personnel and the arrest of the chief medical officer.
