ISLAMABAD: After the approval of the Federal Budget 2024-25, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has imposed additional fixed charges on domestic power consumers.
Nepra has approved the fixed-charged with effect from July 1, 2024, furthering jolting inflation-hit masses.
According to the details, fixed charges woul not be charged to the consumers using up to 200 units while consumers using 301 to 400 units will be charged Rs 200 additionally.
Furthermore, power consumers using 401 to 500 units will pay Rs 400 per month as a fixed charge in their electricity bills. While those fall in 501-600 bracket will pay Rs600 in wake of fixed charges.
Apart from this, regulatory auathoirty will charged Rs 800 per month to consumers of 601 to 700 units while consumers of more than 700 units will be poy a fixed charge of Rs 1,000.

The purpose of imposing the fixed charges is to increase the revenue of electricity distribution companies. The consumers will pay the fixed charges in electricity bills for the month of July.
