ISLAMABAD: In a collaborative effort to address regional concerns and promote economic development, Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani met with Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Ghulam Khan, at the Parliament House. The meeting saw a detailed exchange on various matters, including the overall national situation and the promotion of tourism.
During the discussions, Chief Minister Ghulam Khan apprised Chairman Senate Sanjrani about the challenges faced by Gilgit-Baltistan due to the absence of funds transferred by the federal government. Despite a 35% increase in the salaries of government employees in the federal budget, Gilgit-Baltistan did not receive the allocated funds, leading to severe financial constraints for the region. He emphasized the urgent need for the release of funds to address the financial challenges faced by government employees and the broader economic issues in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Chief Minister Ghulam Khan requested Chairman Senate Sanjrani to take up the matter with the federal government and facilitate the release of the funds allocated for Gilgit-Baltistan. The Chief Minister highlighted that the delay in funds not only affects the livelihoods of government employees but also poses economic challenges for the entire region.

Chief Minister Ghulam Khan expressed concerns over the discontinuation of the health card facility for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, while it continues to be available for residents of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Chairman Senate Sanjrani assured the Chief Minister that he would actively pursue the matter, ensuring that the health card facility is reinstated for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
