KARACHI: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Sindh in an operation arrested an alleged banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist from Karachi.
As per details, the CTD investigation team apprehended Hidayatullah alias Abdul Hakim during a raid in Karachi’s Site Area while he was fundraising for his organization.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the arrested militant belongs to the TTP’s Swat group and was also involved in collecting funds for the terrorist organization. Hidayatullah serves as head of education affairs in TTP’s Swat and Karachi Wilayats.
Furthermore, the CTD spokesperson stated that the TTP terrorist’s father, Mohammad Ghaus, was killed in Afghanistan in 2000. “The terrorist’s brother, Kifayatullah, was a close aide of TTP Swat leader Maulvi Fazlullah and has been missing since the Swat operation,” the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson added that the suspect was responsible for managing the financial affairs of the TTP’s Karachi chapter. During the raid, the CTD team recovered a large sum of money and a book from the possession of the suspect.
Additionally, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) anti-terrorism financing unit arrested two terrorists in Karachi belonging to the TTP Hafiz Gul Bahadur group.
DIG CTD said that Asif Ijaz, the accused was in contact with TTP leaders in Afghanistan through social media and was collecting funds for the banned outfit.
