KARACHI: After forecasting a rise in temperature a day earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Sunday said drizzle and light rain is expected in the city later today.
The Meteorological Department has said that a new spell of monsoon will affect Sindh including the metropolis from July 18 or 19.
Although the country’s financial hub received some scattered rain earlier this week, residents did not get much relief from the heat and have been left to mourn in recent days.
Sea breeze blowing at a speed of 18-kilometre-per-hour in the city, the maximum temperature is expected to be between 34°C to 36°C.
Meanwhile, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 30.5 degrees Celsius.
While the PMD has ruled out another heatwave in the megalopolis, it has said that mercury is likely to rise in the next two to three days with temperatures ranging from 37°C to 38°C.
This forecast is in line with the remarks of meteorologist Jawad Memon who said that the temperature in Karachi is likely to increase by 3 degrees Celsius from Monday (tomorrow).
