ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has suspended the walk-in facility for apostille and general attestation in Islamabad and its liaison offices in Karachi and Lahore.
In a statement, the Foreign Office said, “To facilitate public for Apostille and General Attestation, Foreign Ministry in Islamabad and its liaison offices in Karachi and Lahore are providing facility of document attestation services through courier companies.”
Under the new policy, the public will visit designated courier collection points for Apostille and general attestations. The walk-in facility would be suspended with effect from July 18, 2024 (Thursday).

The Foreign Office said that the courier companies have the authority to accept all documents except the Power of Attorney. Applicants can directly visit designated centres in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi for document verification.
New fee structure for document attestation
Alongside procedural changes for document attestation, Minstry of Foreign Affais have also revised fee structure.
- Personal and educational documents: Rs3,000 per document
- Legal documents: Rs4,500 per document
- Commercial documents: Rs12,000 per document
