ISLAMABAD: Sri Lankan authorities agreed to release Pakistani nationals imprisoned for the past several years in their country within 7 days.

It was announced during the Sri Lankan High Commissioner Admiral (Retd) Ravindra Chandra Srivijay’s meeting with Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control, Mohsin Naqvi regarding the issues of mutual benefit and interest including the release of Pakistani nationals imprisoned in Sri Lanka.

Both formal parties agreed to take necessary measures to ensure the safe and smooth return of Pakistani prisoners captivated in Sri Lanka within a week. Both parties ensured to provide all support regarding this matter.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed gratitude to the Sri Lankan High Commissioner for his cooperation and support in facilitating the repatriation process.

“All necessary steps are being finalized to ensure the swift return of Pakistani citizens imprisoned in Sri Lanka’’ he said.

Sri Lankan high commissioner highly emphasized the importance of Pakistan and Sri Lanka relations ensuring a mutually beneficial developmental plan strengthens the bond between the two countries paving the way for enhanced cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
