ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has named 14 women candidates from Punjab for the reserved seats in the National Assembly. PTI founder Imran Khan will give the final approval of the list.
The list contains names from the PTI Women’s Wing, such as Kanwal Shauzab, the President of PTI Women’s Wing, Alia Hamza, a former Member of the National Assembly, and Rubina Shaheen, the General Secretary of PTI Women’s Wing.
Others include Simabia Tahir, the former President of PTI Women’s Wing Northern Punjab, Farukhunda Kokab, Shahnaz Tariq, the President of PTI Women’s Wing Central Punjab, Dr. Misbah Zafar, the General Secretary of PTI Women’s Wing, Punjab, and Rubia Jameel, a former Member of National Assembly.
Rehana Dar, a candidate from Sialkot in the 2024 general elections, Khadija Shah, Farrukh Agha, the former President of PTI Women’s Wing, Rawalpindi, Dr. Nousheen Hamid, the former President of PTI Women’s Wing, Central Punjab, Rabia Cheema, the wife of former Punjab Governor Omar Cheema, and Firdous Rehana are also the part of confirmed candidates list.
The development comes after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced the implementation of the Supreme Court’s verdict regarding the allocation of reserved seats to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
On July 12, the Supreme Court announced its verdict in the reserved seats case declaring the party eligible for the allocation of reserved seats. The full court bench, by a majority of 8, set aside the Peshawar High Court’s judgment of March 25 and declared the ECP order of March 1 null and void.
