ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad approved a two-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Information Secretary Raoof Hasan and handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for his alleged involvement in running anti-state propaganda.
Earlier today, the FIA prosecutor sought a 10-day physical remand for Raoof Hasan for recovering social media devices — allegedly used for spreading propaganda.
FIA presented Hasan, along with other PTI members, before Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah. The FIA prosecutor argued that the remand was necessary to recover devices used for social media accounts, which are crucial for further investigation.
PTI’s lawyer, Latif Khosa, argued that Hasan has no connection to the digital media wing and that it is unjust to label them as traitors. The court handed over Hasan and 10 other male detainees to the FIA for a 2-day physical remand, while ordering judicial remand for the arrested women, sending them to jail.
A day earlier, Islamabad Police took Hasan into custody from the party’s Central Secretariat for heading a digital media cell and its alleged involvement in running anti-Pakistan propaganda.
