ISLAMABAD : Users and buyers of differenr mobile devices are advised to check whether their smartphones are approved by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) before purchasing to avoid potential fraud.
Recently, the PTA has issued guidelines for verifying both new and second-hand phones from the local market. To avoid fraudulent activities, follow these guidelines:
- Avoid purchasing expensive devices at unusually low prices or without a warrantant.
- Always buy a mobile device that is in a sealed box.
- Check for the PTA stamp on the box while in front of the shop owner
- Ensure that the IMEI number on the box matches the IMEI number on the phone.

To check if your mobile is PTA approved through the website: Visit [https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/](https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/) to check the phone’s status.
Through using the SMS technique send a text following this pattern: Type the IMEI number in a message and send it to 8484.
Similarly, if you want to verify your mobile status through the DVS App: Use the DVS app, available on both Play Store and App Store, to verify the status of mobile phones.
