GUJRANWALA: A session court in Gujranwala has ordered the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Aliya Hamza in connection with the riots on May 9.
The session court considered her bail plea due to the ATC judge being on leave and granted bail against surety bonds of Rs 50,000.
Previously, on June 7, an anti-terrorism court in Gujranwala granted Aliya Hamza a four-day physical remand related to the May 9 violence case. During that hearing, the police had requested a 14-day remand, but the court granted only four days and instructed authorities to present her at the next hearing.
On June 6, Aliya Hamza was re-arrested by police in another case linked to the May 9 violence. She was apprehended outside Sargodha jail and later sought by Gujranwala police for related charges.
It is important to note that Aliya Hamza faces multiple vandalism charges stemming from the nationwide riots following the arrest of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan on May 9.
The May 9 dispute escalated in the country when the founder of PTI Imran Khan was arrested at the Islamabad High Court(IHC). Jinnah House was attacked by the PTI protesters which led to multiple imprisonments and several protestors were injured including the army personnel.
