ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman announced that the party would not become part of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led opposition grand alliance.
The Emir elaborated that the JI will stand with the opposition on some common grounds but will not become part of any opposition alliance as history suggests that the opposition parties use such platforms for self-interest.
He added that the Jamaat leadership would meet with the opposition parties’ leaders but would not be a part of any alliance.
Earlier, PTI’s senior leaders Asad Qaiser and Umar Ayub said that PTI founder Imran Khan gave the nod for the formation of a “grand opposition alliance” to oust the PML-N government.
