RAWALPINDI: Dairy product prices, including milk and yogurt, have been raised by Rs 30 and Rs 40 respectively in Rawalpindi. As of today, milk will cost Rs 220 and yogurt Rs 240 in the district.
The Gawala Union attributes the price hikes to increased costs of animal feed and government taxes, making it unsustainable to sell dairy products at government-mandated rates.
The new price of milk and yogurt:
Currently, the official price for milk is Rs 190, and for yogurt is Rs 200, but pure milk is not available anywhere in the district.
Additionally, following the 18 percent general sales tax (GST) imposed in the Budget 2024-25, leading dairy companies have raised the price of a 100ml pack of packaged milk to Rs 370, putting it out of reach for many.
