ISLAMABAD: Following the adjournment of the National Assembly session late Sunday, the lower house of parliament will meet today (Monday) at 12:30 pm to talk about several motions and agendas.
A copy of the National Assembly order revealed that the controversial constitutional amendments were not part of today’s three-item agenda.
The late-night NA session was convened after an hours-long delay, following the government’s struggle to achieve a number game. JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman remained at the center of the amendments saga as various political leaders from the government and opposition met Fazlur Rehman to get his support for the legislation.
After the Shehbaz-led government failed to achieve the required numbers for the proposal for extending judges’ tenure or increasing their retirement age, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Sunday adjourned the session till 12:30 pm today.
In a similar development, the Senate session was also adjourned till Monday 12:30 pm.
