BEIRUT: Pager blasts in Lebanon killed at least eight people and injured 2,750, here on Tuesday.

As per the foreign media reports, pagers used by security personnel to communicate across Lebanon exploded, injuring more than 2,700 people, including Hezbollah fighters and medical personnel.

Iranian Ambassador Mojtaba Amani was also among the wounded, although Iranian media reported that his condition was stable and out of danger.

The wave of explosions started at 3:45 pm and continued for about an hour. It was not immediately clear how the device exploded.

Lebanon’s internal security forces said a number of wireless communication devices were detonated across the country, particularly in the suburbs of southern Beirut, injuring people.
