ISLAMABAD: Lt-Gen Nadeem Anjum will reportedly continue to serve as the Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) until April 2025, according to a report by (Business Recorder).
Lt-Gen Nadeem Anjum has held the position since November 2021, following a thorough selection process involving consultations between the then Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa. His appointment was finalized on October 26, 2021, with his tenure starting officially on November 20, 2021.
Speculations about his retirement in November 2024 have been rife; however, high-level sources, speaking under strict anonymity, revealed that his services will be retained for an extended period.
No official notification has been made public, and the retention period remains confidential. The sources indicated that his tenure as DG ISI is set to continue “until further orders.”
This extension is reportedly aimed at ensuring the continuity of current counterterrorism policies, amidst a rise in terrorist activities, as well as supporting efforts for economic recovery, the sources added.
