WAZIRISTAN: At least six soldiers were martyred and twelve terrorists killed in two separate encounters in North and South Waziristan on September 19, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
According to the military’s media wing statement, “On 19/20 September 2024, two fierce encounters took place between own troops and the terrorists in North and South Waziristan districts, resulting in the killing of 12 Khwarij.”
According to the statement, security forces detected the movement of terrorists, trying to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the general area of Spinwam in the North Waziristan District.
Security forces troops successfully foiled the attempt and as a result of intense fire exchange, all seven Khwarij [terrorists] in the group were killed, ISPR said. “A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives was also recovered.”
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a group of Khwarij attacked a security forces’ post in the general area Ladha, South Waziristan District.
In a swift response, security troops foiled the attempt of intrusion and killed five Khwarij. However, during intense exchange of fire, six security personnel, having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat, the statement added.
“Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Kharji present in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country,” the statement read.
