ISLAMABAD: Three officials of Islamabad police were dismissed from service for harassing and illegally detaining a married couple within the limits of Bhara Kahu police station.
According to the police spokesperson, the incident occurred on September 17, 2024, when the police stopped the couple, and after failing to produce a marriage certificate, they were subjected to harassment and inappropriate behavior.
SP Dolphin and Patrolling issued the removal order of police officers, identified as Constable Asfand Ayaz, Constable Nayab, and Samiullah, and the case has been registered at the Bhara Kahu police station under sections 506 and 509 of the PPC; 25-D, Telegraph Act and 156-D of Police Order 2002.
The woman lodged a written complaint against police personnel with DIG Operations, Syed Ali Raza, for justice. In response, an inquiry was ordered that confirmed the misconduct of the officers, police said.
According to the complainant, the officers stopped them [couple], on Shahdara Road. Three police officials approached them and demanded their Nikahnama (marriage certificate). When the couple could not provide the certificate on the spot, the officers asked for a bribe.
After refusing the bribe, theĀ policemen forced the man to move away from the car and placed the woman in a police vehicle, and also snatched her mobile phone. One of the officers allegedly began harassing the woman inappropriately while she was in the vehicle and took her mobile phone number, the FIR said.
According to the complaint, police officials later released them, however, the constable, Naimatullah Baloch, continued to contact her, insisting on meeting her and threatening her. FIR said that one of the suspects continuously asked her for physical relations, adding the official also threatened to kill her if she did not fulfill his demand.
