WASHINGTON (Rizwan Abbasi)- Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Chairman of the World Forum for Peace and Justice, has fiercely criticized the global silence on the brutal atrocities and potential genocide in Indian-occupied Kashmir. He argued that international indifference has emboldened India to commit heinous crimes in Kashmir, resulting in ongoing repression and bloodshed in the region.
Speaking exclusively to Ausaf and ABN, Dr. Fai urged Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Mian Shehbaz Sharif, to push UN Secretary-General António Guterres to appoint a special envoy for the resolution of the Kashmir conflict. He emphasized that the implementation of the United Nations’ resolutions on Kashmir is critical for ensuring the legitimate rights of the Kashmiri people.
Dr. Fai strongly condemned India’s constitutional changes in Kashmir, revealing that over 4.3 million domicile certificates have been issued, granting non-Kashmiris the right to vote. He described these moves as a blatant attempt to alter the region’s demographic makeup and erase the identity of the Kashmiri people.
He further expressed deep concern over the unlawful imprisonment of prominent Kashmiri leaders, including Musarat Alam Butt, Yasin Malik, and Shabbir Ahmad Shah. Dr. Fai called on the international community to demand their immediate release and restore the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people.
Appealing to world powers, Dr. Fai stressed that immediate action is necessary to halt the genocide of Kashmiris and to hold India accountable. He also called for an UN-supervised plebiscite to allow the Kashmiri people to determine their future.
In closing, Dr. Fai announced a major protest on September 28 at the UN headquarters in New York. He urged the Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora to join in large numbers, amplifying the voice of the Kashmiri people on the global stage.
