ISLAMABAD: The three-month subsidy package, amounting to Rs 50 billion, provided by the Punjab government in power tariff to consumers using up to 200 units is set to end this month.
The relief in electricity rates of up to Rs. 7 per unit was given to 25 million domestic lifeline consumers for July, August, and September, which is set to end on September 30.
From October 1, the tariff will significantly increase for protected and non-protected consumers using up to 200 units.
Increase in electricity rates
Non-protected consumers using up to 100 units will be paying bills of Rs 23.59 per unit, while those consuming 101 to 200 units will face an increase of Rs 7.12, raising their rate to Rs 30.07 per unit.
Protected consumers using from 1 to 100 units will witness an increase of Rs 3.95 to Rs 11.69 per unit, and for 101 to 200 units, the increase will be Rs 4.10, resulting in a new rate of Rs 14.16 per unit.
