BANGKOK: Pakistan’s Usman Wazeer knocked out Indian opponent Thilak Selvam in the very first round of the fight at the World Youth Boxing Championship in Thailand.
Usman Wazeer in just one minute and five seconds knocked the Indian boxer to the ground with a powerful punch. The six-round welterweight bout was held at a Space Plus boxing arena in Thailand as part of the Rise of Champions event.
With an early attack, Indian Selvam struggled to withstand the Pakistani boxer and with a second heavy blow from the Pakistani fighter, he failed to continue. The decisive hit from Usman Wazeer prompted the referee to declare the Gilgit-Baltistan-based fighter the winner on technical grounds.
This victory marks Usman Wazeer’s 14th consecutive win in professional boxing, solidifying his reputation as a rising star in the sport. Earlier in the year, Usman Wazeer had defeated Thailand’s Jatsada Pithakdantha by TKO in round three.
He has already secured prestigious titles including the World Youth Title, Asian Title, and Middle East Title. He boasts an impressive 71 percent knockout rate. The latest knockout was his tenth.
