Pakistan Test cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has criticised Pakistan’s Test head coach Jason Gillespie over the lack of changes in the squad for the series against England.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday, announced a 15-member squad for the first Test against England. However, the squad carried almost the same players that lost the Test series 2-0 to Bangladesh recently.
Jason Gillespie defended the squad while commentating during the Champions One-Day Cup Eliminator 1 between the Lions and Stallions on Wednesday.
“We do not want to make any hasty decisions after one bad series. All these players are skilled; no one loses their ability overnight. A couple of poor series cannot define their potential,” Gillespie said.

However, the statement did not sit well with Ahmed Shehzad. He criticised Gillespie, in a video on his social media accounts, over not dropping the players who have been failing consistently.
“To clarify, Gillespie, we have only lost one series since you arrived, but before you, we were losing badly,” Shehzad stated.
“You need to understand that every other coach will face similar situations; when they come in and lose their first couple of series, they’ll say, ‘It was just the first couple of series; we cannot exclude players because of that.‘
However, you must recognize that you are not the only coach Pakistan has hired. There were others before you who also faced losses with the same group of players. So, I don’t understand why you’re saying all this when changes are on the horizon.”
