LAHORE: The Western Cantonment Police in Lahore on Friday arrested a person who is a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), here on Friday.
As per the details, the accused, identified as Nadeem, allegedly extorted money from the public on the pretext of being a senior officer.
According to the reports, Nadeem introduced himself as SSP to gain trust and cheat people in Lahore. During the arrest, the law enforcement officers recovered a fake police identity card along with other forged documents from his possession.
In a surprising discovery, the police also found a fake Satara Jarat, a prestigious presidential award, in Nadeem’s possession. Apart from this, several fake stamps of various government departments were also seized.
Authorities have started investigation into the matter by filing a First Information Report (FIR) against Nadeem. Police officials are currently investigating how long Nadeem has been operating under this false identity and how many people have been duped by his fraud.
Police have urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to avoid falling prey to such scams. An investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of Nadeem’s crimes.
