RAWALPINDI: As Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced a demonstration in Rawalpindi, the district administration has turned off the Mobile phone signals. The situation became difficult with the closure of the metr0-bus, major intersections, and thoroughfares in the city.
Following the PTI’s protest call, social media users are facing disruption in major platforms including WhatsApp and Instagram across the country.
DownDetector, the internet service monitoring website, showed that WhatsApp users facing difficulties sending media files via mobile data starting in the wee hours on Saturday.
Internet monitoring platform also confirmed the outages in PTCL and Instagram services which heightened at 6:00 PM on Saturday, while services on other platforms remained normal.
A similar disruption was faced during PTI’s previous rally in Islamabad and Lahore. The disruptions affected mobile data users, while those connected to broadband services remained unaffected. Other social media platforms, such as YouTube, continued to function normally.
