LAHORE: Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, has announced an exciting initiative to reward high-achieving students with a trip to Dubai, which he has personally funded.
During his speech at Punjab University’s convocation, Hayat emphasized the importance of developing degree programs that meet the needs of the job market, ensuring graduates don’t need personal connections to secure employment.
To achieve this, the minister outlined plans to introduce specialized academic programs in high demand, including dedicated institutions focused on information technology (IT).
Moreover, he criticized educational institutions for prioritizing trivial matters over innovative and modern academic offerings, urging Punjab University to prioritize innovation and academic achievements.
In addition to the Dubai trip, Hayat announced that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will distribute 40,000 laptops to students and launch scholarship programs for 30,000 students to improve access to higher education.
This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to support education, with a budget of Rs 25 billion allocated for the scholarship program.
These initiatives demonstrate the government’s commitment to education and empowering students for success.
