LAHORE: Authorities have decided to dedicate Sundays to issuing driving licenses to them. This decision was made in a meeting between Additional IG Traffic and Secretary Transport, aiming to improve road safety.
Starting immediately, special driving tests for rickshaw drivers will be held every Sunday at designated licensing centers across the province.
To facilitate this process, special counters have been set up, and Motor Vehicle Examiners will be present during the tests. This initiative is expected to reduce traffic accidents, according to Additional IG Traffic.
Additionally, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched an online driving license renewal facility for overseas Pakistanis.
To renew their licenses, expats can email scanned copies of their passports, national ID cards, expired licenses, medical fitness certificates, and fee challan to the relevant embassy or high commission. The embassy will then forward the application to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief’s office.
This move is a significant step towards regularizing rickshaw drivers and ensuring they follow traffic rules, ultimately enhancing road safety in Punjab.
