KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday granted bail to Natasha Danish, the accused in the Karsaz road accident, in a drug-related case against surety bonds worth Rs1 million.
During the hearing, her lawyer, Farooq H. Naik, stated that the settlement had already been reached between the parties in the main FIR, adding that she had been granted bail in the case.
The public prosecutor argued that Natasha was under the influence of drugs while driving, her lawyer in response pointed out that the medical report was ambiguous, as methamphetamine was not found in her blood but was present in her urine.
Upon asking how much methamphetamine was detected in the urine, the prosecutor responded that the medical report did not specify the amount.
Natasha’s lawyer, however, insisted there was a possibility that due to her psychiatric treatment, Natasha was prescribed a medicine that surfaced in the medical report.
After hearing arguments from both parties, the Sindh High Court approved bail for Natasha in the drug case, ordering her to submit bonds of Rs1 million.
Natasha Danish, a prominent businesswoman in Karachi, was booked in multiple cases including killing a father and his daughter in an accident on Karsaz Road on August 19 and driving the vehicle while on illegal drugs.
