ISLAMABAD: Justice Munib Akhtar of the Supreme Court on Monday declared the order of hearing the revision case related to the interpretation of Article 63-A as illegal.
According to media reports, Justice Muneeb Akhtar wrote another letter to the Registrar of the Supreme Court stating that the case was to be heard by a 5-member larger bench.
He further wrote in the letter that the four-member bench cannot hear the revision case related to Article 63-A in the court. He said that the order for today’s hearing was sent to him which has his name on it but no signature.
Justice Muneeb Akhtar remarked that the four judges sitting on the bench are respectable but today’s hearing is not in accordance with the law and rules.
He said that he had already detailed his stand in a letter and wanted to register his protest against today’s hearing order.
He also stated that today’s hearing order is not a judicial order and the order on interpretation of Article 63-A has no significance in the revision case.
