DUBAI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-222, traveling from Dubai to Multan, experienced a potentially catastrophic issue during takeoff when all tires of the aircraft burst.
Fortunately, the swift action of the skilled captain and crew ensured the safety of all 172 passengers on board.
As the flight prepared for takeoff, the pilots received a warning of an engine malfunction. Acting promptly, the captain deployed the emergency brake system, bringing the aircraft to a safe halt. Due to the crew’s expertise, no injuries were reported.
Following the incident, passengers were immediately transferred to the lounge, where arrangements were made for their comfort and convenience. PIA’s engineering staff from Karachi will fly to Dubai on a night flight to rectify the technical issue.
To minimize disruption, PIA has arranged alternative flights for the affected passengers. Some will be flown from Dubai to Lahore via flight PK-204 tonight, while others will be accommodated on a PIA flight from Sharjah to Multan.
The airline has reassured that passenger safety remains its top priority and is working diligently to manage the situation efficiently. An investigation into the incident is likely to follow.
PIA’s prompt response and prioritization of passenger safety have averted a potential disaster, demonstrating the airline’s commitment to protecting its passengers.
