LAHORE: The Punjab government has launched a special campaign to issue driving licenses to students and faculty members across the province. This initiative aims to address the alarming number of students driving without licenses, which has led to numerous accidents.
According to a spokesperson for the traffic police, Additional IG Traffic has decided to provide licenses to students, and a circular has been issued to all Chief Traffic Officers (CTOs) and District Traffic Officers (DTOs) in this regard.
Under this plan, licenses will be issued not only to students of universities and colleges but also to the administration of educational institutions.
The campaign seeks to promote road safety and responsible driving habits. Reports indicate that CTOs and District Traffic Officers will hold meetings with the heads of educational institutions promptly.
Additionally, focal persons will be appointed by universities throughout the province. To facilitate the process, the administration of universities and colleges will provide transportation to testing centers, where students will receive all necessary facilities for obtaining their driving licenses.
The Higher Education Commission Punjab has also issued instructions to educational institutions regarding the campaign. This initiative is expected to make a significant impact on reducing the number of accidents involving students and promoting a culture of safe driving in Punjab.
