ISLAMABAD: The number of annual income tax returns filed has exceeded 3.5 million, with taxpayers depositing over 55 billion rupees in taxes.
As per the details, this revelation was made during a meeting on Inland Revenue Operation and other team members chaired by Chairman FBR Rashid Mahmood Langrial between Monday and Tuesday night.
The deadline for filing income tax returns has been extended.
According to the Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, last year, FBR received 1.6 million tax returns by September 30, making the annual tax returns for 2023-25 more than double those of the previous year.
Report revealed that the reason for the 14-day extension announced yesterday for filing tax returns is due to the difficulties in the FBR system, due to which business organizations and the public were facing difficulties in filing tax returns.
To solve these problems, Chairman FBR consulted Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and extended the last date of submission of tax returns by 14 days.
