RAWALPINDI: Due to the significant increase in dengue cases, the authorities have decided to impose a health emergency across the district.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Anti-Dengue, Infectious Diseases and Disaster Management, which also tasked a technical group to investigate the causes of dengue deaths and the severity of the outbreak.
According to Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafiq, special attention will be given to the medical management of dengue patients, arrangements will be made for dengue treatment in private hospitals.
Additionally, public awareness campaigns will be conducted to increase awareness about the disease.
Khawaja Imran Nazir stressed the need for an action plan next month, similar to the strategy used in Lahore, which has resulted in an improvement in the dengue situation there.
Concerns remain about a further rise in dengue cases in Rawalpindi, prompting government hospitals to increase treatment capacity.
