ISLAMABAD: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan today for a three-day official visit, accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers, deputy ministers, and senior officials.
This significant visit aims to strengthen Pakistan-Malaysia relations, which are deeply rooted in shared history, culture, and faith.
According to the Foreign Office statement, the Malaysian premier will come to Pakistan on the invitation formally sent by PM Shehbaz. During his stay, PM Ibrahim will engage in talks with PM Shehbaz Sharif, focusing on a comprehensive agenda that encompasses various sectors.
The discussions will center around enhancing economic cooperation, exploring new avenues for trade, collaborating on energy projects, promoting agricultural development, and fostering cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts.
Additionally, the two leaders will delve into regional and global developments, addressing pressing issues that impact both nations.
The visit builds upon last month’s address by Syafik Firdaus Hasbullah, Malaysia’s Deputy Head of Mission, who emphasized the importance of increased cooperation in defense, science, technology, renewable energy, climate change, education, culture, and people-to-people contacts.
Moreover, he highlighted Malaysia’s willingness to support Pakistan in improving product quality through the Malaysian Technological Cooperation Program (MTCP).
Earlier in a meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan recently met on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s Special Meeting to discuss ways to bolster Pakistan-Malaysia relations.
Their talks centered around strengthening trade and investment ties, building on existing agreements like the Malaysia-Pakistan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and other memoranda of understanding.
The meeting yielded a significant outcome: both nations agreed to convene the next Joint Ministerial Commission meeting in Islamabad later this year.
This visit is expected to further solidify the strong bilateral ties between Pakistan and Malaysia, paving the way for increased collaboration and mutual growth.
With a renewed focus on strengthening relations, both nations can look forward to enhanced economic, cultural, and strategic partnerships.
