GWADAR: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has ordered cancellation of non-objection certificates (NOCs) of underperforming housing schemes in Gwadar and proposed bringing in new investment companies through a transparent process.
As per the details, the directive was issued during the 29th meeting of the governing body of Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), which he presided over on Wednesday.
In the meeting, several important issues including Smart Port City Project, Gwadar Master Plan, Safe City Project and concerns related to infrastructure and environment were discussed. GDA’s short-term achievements and long-term strategies were also reviewed.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of inter-departmental linkages with comprehensive planning to transform Gwadar into a globally recognized, developed city. He stressed on prioritizing the interests of the local communities, particularly regarding the master plan and shipbreaking yard projects, addressing concerns raised by local fishermen and residents.
Chief Minister Bugti reiterated that Gwadar is not only important for the development of Balochistan and Pakistan but also has global importance. He stressed the need for forward-thinking projects that create a favorable investment climate for international investors and ensure that local communities are involved and consulted in the development process.
Addressing the issue of clean drinking water for the residents of Gwadar, the Chief Minister stressed for a clear division of responsibilities between the Public Health Engineering Department and the GDA, noting that due to their interdependence. The delay has worsened the situation.
He also directed the GDA to increase its revenue generation capabilities to become financially self-sufficient while reducing dependence on provincial government funding. He emphasized on creating profitable projects to achieve this goal.
Further, CM Bugti directed the Quetta Electric Supply Company to prepare a feasibility report for constructing a feeder to ensure stable power supply to Gwadar Hospital.
At the end of the meeting, CM Bugti, along with MNA Malik Shah Gorgage, Gwadar MPA Maulana Hidayatur Rahman, Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, and Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Mir Pasand Khan Buledi, distributed relief cheques to flood victims in Ormara tehsil.
