ISLAMABAD: Lawyer Mustafain Kazmi, who misbehaved with Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa during the hearing of review petitions on Article 63A in the Supreme Court, was arrested by police on Thursday.
According to media reports, Islamabad police arrested Mustafain Kazmi from Sector F-7/4 and transferred him to the Secretariat Police Station. Police stated that Kazmi is a former employee of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
Reports indicate that Kazmi was arrested by the Islamabad police; however, further details have not yet emerged.
It is noteworthy that two days ago, during the hearing of review petitions on Article 63A, Kazmi appeared on the roster and misbehaved with the chief justice.
During the hearing, a lawyer for PTI threatened the larger bench, stating that “five hundred lawyers are standing outside, and let’s see how this bench decides against PTI.”
The five-member larger bench, including Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Aminuddin, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan, and Justice Mazhar Alam, heard the review petitions against the decision on Article 63A.
Furthermore, the Chief Justice expressed anger at the PTI lawyer’s threat, stating, “We will not tolerate our insult,” and called the police.
Kazmi, who presented himself as a lawyer for PTI, became agitated and threatened the five-member larger bench with severe consequences, leading to an exchange of harsh words between him and the Chief Justice.
The chief justice stated that they would not tolerate any insult, while Justice Mazhar Alam Mian remarked that political discussions should not be held in court. The Chief Justice also mentioned that some YouTubers would likely accompany them outside, leading to comments suggesting that this was done for a purpose.
