ISLAMABAD: Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) has issued an official notice stating that the university has suspended all academic activities and transport services for today, October 4, 2024, due to the prevailing situation in Islamabad and Rawalpindi ahead of PTI’s protest at D-Chowk.
The university administration made this decision in light of the ongoing political protests in the federal capital. As a result, buses only operated on their regular routes until 4:00 PM yesterday, October 3, and no further bus services will be available until the situation improves.
According to the notification issued by the Qaid-e-Azam admin office, the university will remain closed for three consecutive days, including Saturday and Sunday, due to the weekend.
In addition, the District authorities have sealed the Red Zone in Islamabad ahead of the anticipated protest by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), with containers positioned on roads leading to the Red Zone, leaving only Margalla Road accessible.
Commuters faced significant challenges on the roads, especially early morning travelers heading to offices and schools. Similar blockades have been set up at Faizabad on the Express Highway, resulting in long lines of vehicles. QAU’s decision aims to ensure the safety and convenience of its students and staff during this time.
