LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken a significant step towards supporting individuals with autism by laying the foundation stone of Pakistan’s first autism school in Lahore.
The school will have a ground floor and first floor, with 11 classrooms for the junior section and 10 classrooms for the senior section. Additionally, there will be 10 classrooms for cubicle speech sessions, a therapy room, a pads room, and a pre-vocational training room.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of compassion and love for children with autism, ensuring they receive the care and support they deserve.
Moreover, she also ordered the immediate hiring of autism experts to work on the project and directed that it be prepared in consultation with experts in the field.

According to the Autism Society of Pakistan, nearly 350,000 children suffer from autism. CM Punjab’s Autism School offers them the specialized education and support they need.
This initiative follows last month’s launch of the AI-powered “Smart Classroom Project” at Government Kinnaird Girls High School, Empress Road, a collaborative effort with Huawei.
The project integrates advanced technology into the classroom, including cameras that record lectures, enabling students to review and engage with lessons outside of class time.
