ISLAMABAD: A Chinese domestic worker stole millions of rupees from the house of her employer, also from China, and disappeared, police said on Wednesday.
As per the details, A case was registered against the domestic worker at the Margalla police on the complaint of her employer, Xie Guangjin.
Xie Guangjin, who is associated with the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, and resides in Sector F-8, told the police that he hired a domestic worker from his native country to cook and do other household chores.
The complainant said that the suspect Zhao Yongqun arrived in Islamabad about 10 days ago and started staying at his residence.
However, she claimed that she suddenly left the house last Saturday without any notice.
He said that he searched for him all around Islamabad but could not trace him, adding that a search of his belongings based on suspicion revealed $11,000, Chinese Yuan 12,700 and Rs 150,000 in cash. Along with four boxes of imported Chinese cigarettes worth Rs 130,000 were found missing.
Xie Guangjin requested the police to search the housekeeper and recover her belongings.
When contacted, a police officer said that after registering a case, an investigation has been started and assistance is being sought from the Safe City Authority to trace the whereabouts of the woman.
Besides, he said the immigration department was also requested to provide the suspect’s travel history to ascertain whether she had left the country or was still inside Pakistan.
In another incident, thieves stole valuables worth over Rs 3.4 million from a house in DHA-II, police said.
In response to the complaint filed by Maria Niazi, a case has been registered in the Humak police station.
Police said some thieves broke into the house when the occupants were out. On returning home, they found the house ransacked and a Rolex watch worth Rs 15 lakh, two Gucci watches worth Rs 800,000, jewelery worth Rs 1 million, an iPad and a laptop stolen.
