ISLAMABAD: The federal government spent Rs27 million and deployed 6,000 personnel to restrict Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters as they planned a mass demonstration at D-Chowk.
According to a local publication, citing police officials, 600 containers were used to block 27 points in the federal capital which cost Rs24 million. The average rent of a container is Rs40,000 per day, he said.
Moreover, 60 vehicles were arranged to transport police personnel to 48 different spots around the city, which were rented for Rs1.2 million as the per day rent of a vehicle costs Rs20,000.
Similarly, the publication reported that lunch and dinner were arranged for the force of 6,000 personnel, adding that the total cost for two-time meals for the force was calculated at Rs2.4 million.
Frontier Constabulary and Rangers are also accompanying police contingent and have been equipped with anti-riot gear, including teargas shells, handcuffs, and prison vehicles, were deployed at these points.
