ISLAMABAD: A high-level British delegation, comprising esteemed members Lord Boateng, Wendy Thomson from the House of Lords, and vice-chancellors from prominent UK universities, has arrived in Pakistan for a two-day visit.
The primary objective is to explore cooperation between the UK and Pakistan in education, focusing on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The delegation plans to establish 280 skills centers across Pakistan, providing top-notch training to millions of Pakistanis. Successful trainees will receive joint certificates from Pakistani, UK, and Gulf universities, recognizing their skills and expertise.
This initiative will cater to industry needs locally and abroad, enhancing employability prospects for Pakistani youth.
An initial 80,000 jobs will be offered to successful trainees in various Gulf countries, including Dubai, in sectors such as security, hospitality, construction, veterinary nursing, and Dubai Police.
The skills centers will also provide trained manpower to industries worldwide, wherever skilled workers are in demand.
During their visit, the delegation will meet with Federal Education Minister Maqbool Siddiqui in Karachi to discuss strategic partnerships and strengthen Pakistan’s vocational training framework. They aim to equip the workforce with the necessary skills for the global job market.
A representative emphasized their commitment to promoting educational cooperation, empowering Pakistani youth, and meeting industry needs. They look forward to fruitful discussions and a lasting partnership in improving Pakistan’s education sector.
Participating institutions include the University of London, University of Greenwich, Queen Mary University, City and Guilds, GEMS Middle East, and Pakistan’s National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC).
This collaborative effort has the potential to transform Pakistan’s education landscape, providing millions of youth with enhanced employment opportunities and contributing to economic growth.
