PESHAWAR: Senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Asad Qaiser has warned of nationwide protests if Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is not released within 24 hours, here on Sunday.
Speaking to members of the KP Assembly, Qaiser expressed outrage over the alleged detention of Gandapur, saying that such an act was unprecedented in the history of the world.
Qaiser condemned the vandalism of KP House in Islamabad and demanded the immediate release of Gandapur and the release of more than 1,000 PTI workers currently under federal police custody.
He criticized the government’s alleged attempts to silence the opposition and warned that the PTI would boycott meetings of the National Assembly, Senate and Standing Committees if “controversial” constitutional amendments were tabled.
Referring to ‘detention’, Qaiser compared the situation in Gandapur and questioned why Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was not treated the same way.
It is worth mentioning here that KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur allegedly went missing while going to attend a protest in Islamabad.
Senior PTI leaders claimed that Gandapur had been taken into custody, while the government denied the allegation, saying Ali Amin Gandapur was not in any official custody.
