ISLAMABAD: The 56 Pakistani prisoners who spent years in Sri Lankan custody have finally landed in their homeland, marking the end of their long and challenging journey.
This joyful reunion was made possible by a chartered flight arranged through collaborative efforts between Pakistan’s interior ministry and Sri Lankan authorities, which took three months to materialize.
Led by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the repatriation efforts were prioritized to bring back the Pakistani nationals. A crucial meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Naqvi in Lahore paved the way for the prisoners’ return, with federal minister Abdul Aleem Khan generously covering all expenses.

Naqvi expressed his thanks to the Sri Lankan government and its high commissioner for their cooperation, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the tireless efforts of Naqvi and Khan in making this repatriation a success.
