ISLAMABAD: The Metro Bus service in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore is currently facing disruptions due to ongoing protests by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the route from Saddar Station to Faizabad remains operational, but services from Faizabad to Secretariat have been completely shut down by federal authorities.
Similarly, in Lahore, limited operations are in place. Over the weekend, commuters could travel from Gaju Matta to the MAO college Stop, but services between MAO and Shahdara were suspended.
Authorities are urging travelers to plan as the situation unfolds, with further updates expected from district administrations monitoring the situation.
– Islamabad-Rawalpindi Route: Partially suspended
– Saddar Station to Faizabad: Operational
– Faizabad to Secretariat: Suspended
– Lahore Route: Limited operations
– Gaju Matta to MAO college Stop: Operational
– MAO to Shahdara: Suspended
The protests, centered on rising prices, calls for the release of PTI’s founder and demands for judicial independence, led to road blockades and container placements. However, on Sunday, police removed these barriers, reopening city roads, including the Eastern Bypass, to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Commuters are advised to stay informed and check for updates before traveling.
