ISLAMABAD: EasyPaisa has cleared the air on claims of blocking accounts that are not linked to customers’ mobile phone numbers and CNIC (National Identity Card) numbers will be blocked by the central bank, here on Tuesday.
As per the details, the company says that EasyPaisa accounts are not being blocked based on this criteria, and there has been no official statement from the central bank to support these claims.
Khurram Zia, member director of Net Shell Communications Pvt Ltd, who manages public relations for EasyPaisa, has publicly denied the claims and termed them as misinformation. He shared an official statement from EasyPaisa denying the allegations.
Referring to its official X and Facebook accounts, the company said that rumors of account closure and service interruption are completely baseless.
The platform assured users that all EasyPaisa accounts are fully functional and the services continue uninterrupted.
Recent posts circulating on social media have raised concerns among EasyPaisa users, claiming that accounts not linked to users’ mobile phone numbers and CNIC (National Identity Card) numbers have been blocked by the central bank.
The claims stemmed from a post on X (formerly Twitter) on September 30, warning account holders that, as directed by the State Bank, failure to link their accounts would result in their 30 Will be blocked till September 2024.
