KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has ordered a suspension of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) results due to allegations of irregularities in the examinations process.
A committee has been tasked with gathering records from relevant institutions and preparing a report, while the Federal Investigation Agency (FAI) will investigate the matter.
During a hearing led by Justice Salahuddin Panhwar, concerns about the fairness of the results were discussed, particularly regarding over 1,100 students scoring 187 marks.
Justice Panhwar noted the unusual number of students achieving high scores and called for a comparison with results from Punjab and KP.
Justice Amjad Sethi mentioned that the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) found no evidence of exam paper leaks. However, concerns remain, prompting the court to form a three-member committee to investigate.
MQM leader Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan expressed his concerns post-hearing, highlighting that student reported injustices and alleged financial discrepancies involving Dow University. He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability, urging a thorough investigation within 15 days to protect students’ futures.
