ISLAMABAD: In preparation for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, the federal government has announced a three-day public holiday from October 14 to 16.
However, institutions conducting Cambridge O and A level examinations will remain open during this period.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz, clarified that all examinations scheduled between October 14 and 16 will proceed as planned, and all examination centers in Islamabad will remain operational.
The Cambridge examinations will take place in three centers across Islamabad: Sector E-11, Sector H8, and Noor Mahal at the GT Road.
This decision ensures that students can take their exams without disruption. In contrast, marriage halls, restaurants, and cafes in Rawalpindi and Islamabad will be closed from October 12 to 16.
Traders and hotel owners have been warned by the police that any violations will result in penalties.
The SCO summit, scheduled for October 15 and 16 in Islamabad, brings together nine full member states, including China, India, Iran, and Russia. The government’s measures aim to ensure the smooth conduct of this high-level meeting.
