PESHAWAR: In a significant move for peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), provincial and federal governments, along with various political parties, convened a grand jirga at the Chief Minister’s House, hosted by CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur.
The Jirga granted Gandapur full authority to negotiate with banned organizations.
Key attendees included Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, and leaders from multiple political parties, including PTI’s Barrister Gohar and notable figures like Aimal Wali Khan and Mohsin Dawar.
During the opening address, Gandapur expressed gratitude to all participants for setting aside political differences to prioritize peace and safety for citizens. He emphasized the need for dialogue over conflict and assured that every leader’s opinion would be respected.
The KP Governor reiterated the jirga’s agenda of maintaining peace, while the federal minister pledged cooperation within constitutional frameworks.
A spokesperson confirmed that consultation and action plan would soon follow, with full powers delegated to Chief Minister Gandapur to facilitate negotiations.
