PESHAWAR: Private schools in Peshawar suspended operations today, citing the city’s unstable political climate and security concerns. School owners attributed the closure to public safety and security worries.
Administrators informed parents via WhatsApp messages, affecting schools in Hayatabad, Nasir Bagh Road, and University Road areas.
The decision to shut down comes amid heightened tensions in the region. A three-day jirga is scheduled to commence in Jamrud today, aiming to address pressing security issues.
Moreover, the city is also facing partial mobile phone signal suspension which has led to delays in communication services within the city. The closures and network disruptions have caused inconvenience to residents, particularly parents and students.
In a significant development, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has been authorized to engage in talks with the jirga, seeking a resolution to the security concerns plaguing the city.
The precautionary measures reflect the gravity of the situation, highlighting the need for constructive dialogue and swift resolution.
As the jirga convenes, hopes are pinned on CM Gandapur’s negotiations to restore normalcy and ensure public safety in Peshawar.
